fter investing in a beautiful deck or fence, whether we build it for you or it’s already part of your home, it is important to keep up with yearly maintenance and biannual cleaning and staining to keep it looking as beautiful as the day it was installed! One of my favorite steps in the process is resetting the PH balance in the wood which brings back its natural color. As with most things, the sun’s effect on wood causes it to fade in color turning into a grayish shade. By using brightener, it almost immediately reverses that effect. Besides just the visual appeal though, these processes ensure that wood decaying vegetation and bugs are kept at bay. We can guarantee that with proper maintenance, we can extend the life of your deck to 30+ years.
The weather in the pacific northwest poses a challenge, as up to 10 months out of the year has rain. This environment can be really hard on a deck, and this is why we stress the importance of maintenance. The oils in the stain keep the water from being able to penetrate into the wood. These oils do fade, so cleaning and staining should happen every other year at the longest.
